 In Veins

There are veins, veins in everything. That is where the flows converge. That is also where things are interwoven, folded and connected. During the symposium, I discovered the materiality of the bone china, which guided me to create meanings and the ideal forms for expressing its uniqueness. I cast the bone, shell, nuts/seed, human organ and the oval/egg shape; I also created folds, carved veins and inlaid blood within to interpret the interconnection between species, water, and earth. From the metaphorical and metamorphic forms, I hope to intrigue the viewers’ curiosity. Moreover, with the miniature scale of my works, I aim to illustrate that the precious material we took from nature should be cherished as jewels with caring.
