Porcelain Exhibition Translucens
11 09 2026
Translucens is an exhibition of contemporary porcelain art, which aims to take a deeper look at porcelain, exploring the properties and conceptual forms of expression of this material. The exhibition is held at the gallery “Drobė” of the Kaunas branch of the Lithuanian Artists’ Association.
In Latin, the word “Translucens” means “transmitting light”. Due to its unique chemical composition and firing process, porcelain is characterized by exceptional light transmission. This exhibition invites artists to explore and interpret the concept of transparency through the prism of porcelain as a medium. Transparency is not only the physical property of porcelain to transmit light, but also a metaphorical idea that speaks of transparency, transformation, mystery, fragility and processes of disclosure. The exhibition aims to reveal various interpretations of this theme, combining different perspectives of creators and innovative artistic expressions.
This exhibition is a kind of continuation of the porcelain symposia held in Kaunas, an attempt to take a new look at porcelain art in our region. The exhibition once again reminds of the direct connection with the history of Kaunas porcelain, analyzes current topics, and presents creative and technological innovations.
The exhibition, whose main axis is porcelain, features works by 25 authors, including works created especially for this exhibition and works created over the past few years. The exhibition features ceramic artists from Lithuania and Latvia, Estonia, Poland, Ukraine, Italy and Turkey. The artists are Kristina Ancutaitė (LT), Darius Barčas (LT), Živilė Bardzilauskaitė Bergins (LT), Rozalina Busel (BY/PL), Adile Feyza Cakir Ozgundogdu (TR), Rokas Dovydėnas (LT), Diana Grochovska (LT), Merike Hallik (EE), Elize Hiiop (EE), Jurgita Jasinskaitė (LT), Ramutė Juršienė (LT), Vida Juškaitė (LT), Rasa Justaitė- Gecevičienė (LT), Ihor Kovalevych (UA), Vilija Kinderavičiūtė (LT), Romas Mekiša (LT), Tetiana Pavlyshyn-Sviatun (UA), Giedra Petkevičiūtė (LT), Peeter Riba (EE), Ieva Rutė (LT), Līga Skariņa (LV), Remigijus Sederevičius (LT), Rūta Šipalytė (LT), Elina Titane (LV), Angelica Tulimiero (IT), Sandra Ulmane (LV), Raminta Kapačinskaitė, Elvita Šiberekovaitė
